We love Seven Wonders of the World
and other world heritage sites. However, due to lack of money or other problems
only a few among us get the opportunity to experience those places face to
face.
For those millions of deprived people, Google introduced
their World Wonders project a few months ago. With the help of Google’s Street
View technology, people all over the globe can see every minute detail of
historical places from their computer screen.
Once a user select the location (Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America) or the theme (Architecture,
Cities & Towns, Archaeological sites, Palaces & Castles, Parks &
Gardens, Places of Worship, Historic sites, Monuments and Memorials, Regions
& Landscapes and Wonders of Nature), he can view all the interesting places
sitting comfortably inside his house. Viewers can also navigate the lanes as if
they are walking by those famous locations.
This project aims to preserve
the heritage sites for the future generation. That is why Google joined hands
with UNESCO, the World Monuments
Fund and Cyark to provide the most relevant data and real life experience the
viewers. This project not only shares some interesting information, but images
and videos of chosen heritage site as well.
This facility is extremely
beneficial for educational institutions. Using the Street View technology,
teachers will be able to offer a rich teaching experience.
